Life’s a Beach here in Orihuela Costa!

Orihuela Costa’s coastline stretches for more the 16 kilometres and is fast becoming one of the hotspots on the Costa Blanca.

Most of the beaches here have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag status guaranteeing you a clean and safe environment with quality facilities including the popular Chiringuitos (beach bars), public toilets and some offer disabled access. Here are some of the most popular local Playas (beaches) and Calas (coves).

Orihuela Costa Beaches:

Punta Prima: Offers two small coves. The first next to Nautilus Restaurant and the second at the far end of the promenade and around the rocky headland, situated below the Restaurante Punta Prima (renowned for tapas). There is an elevator here for access to the beach.

Playa Libre/Playa Nudista: Is nestled under the cliff top between Punta Prima and Playa Flamenca for those of you wanting an all over tan.

Playa Flamenca: Has two main beaches either side of the promenade (Paseo) plus a few little hidden coves to discover for those of you wishing to lose the tourists for a peaceful day of sun worshipping. Offering facilities such as a beach bar, public toilets, including disabled toilet, volleyball court, foot showers, sunbed and sunshades for hire. There is a ramp for use by those who cannot manage the stairs from the promenade.  Overlooking the promenade you will also find nice restaurants and bars to visit.

La Zenia: The beaches of La Zenia are probably the best known on the Orihuela Costa. There are three in total. One located either side of the Hotel La Zenia (Cala Bosque & Cala Cerrada beaches) and a short stroll around the coastal path is Cala Capitan which consists of a small cove which is protected by a small island (Isla del Carmen). Both Cala Bosque and Cala Capitan have beach bars. Cala Capitan is good beach to practice diving. Sunbeds and sunshades are available on these beaches as are public toilets and children’s play areas. Parking spaces are available for all three beaches including disabled spaces.

There is a lovely cliff walk that passes all three beaches heading towards Cabo Roig and beyond to the south. You can also walk in the other direction towards Playa Flamenca and Punta Prima’s beaches to the north.

Cabo Roig: The old 16th century Water Tower perched on the cliff top overlooks Cabo Roig Marina and beach. Cabo Roig Marina is one of the best marinas on the Costa Blanca coastline. There are over two hundred mooring spaces, a restaurant and a beach bar (with toilets) and with live music on Sunday afternoons attracting many visitors. For those who like walking Cabo Roig offers walks along the cliff-tops.

Campoamor: Has three beaches Playa del la Regia, Playa de la Glea and Playa Barranco Rubio.

Playa de la Regia beach is a lovely beach and can be often overshadowed by the majestic Playa de la Glea located immediately south of it. There is an elevated boardwalk linking both beaches. Its pristine waters are ideal for swimming and is often less quieter in the high season than its busy neighbour.

Playa de la Glea, this majestic beach is half a kilometre long of fine white sand, parking, including disabled parking beside it and has beach-side restaurants available all year round. The wide range of facilities make it one of the best equipped of the Orihuela Costa’s beaches with jet-ski, paragliding, pedalo, inflated water activities and a children’s play area. There is a beach side bar and toilets, disabled access, lifeguards, watchtower and first aid post. There is also a Roman viaduct by the public car park across the road from the beach.

During the summer season “Las Collinas” Beach Club is open. It is one of the most beautiful bars around the Orihuela Costa. The bar offers sunbeds and an infinity pool with views over Playa de la Glea beach and beyond. It also has a restaurant serving sushi.

Next to Playa de la Glea is Campoamor Marina. It is an ideal marina with mooring for medium sized boats small marina.

Just south of the marina lies Playa Barranco Rubio, and is another long beach white sandy beach. It has a beach bar with toilets, sunbeds and sunshades available. This is mostly used by Spanish tourists.
